College Youth in Government National Assembly & UM Chapter Forming

The College Youth in Government (YIG, collegeyig.org) program is a model federal government run by the YMCA of Pennsylvania. Participants can introduce and debate legislation as a member of Congress, argue cases before the Supreme Court, report on proceedings as a member of the media, and serve on the Cabinet. The program is a great way to meet politically-minded individuals from around the country and debate ideas of national importance. The national assembly will be held on January 15-19 (during winter break) at the YMCA’s conference center in Black Mountain, North Carolina. We are looking for a delegation of students to attend the national assembly with a view towards establishing a formal chapter at the University of Maryland next year.
