• Position for rising and current Juniors, Seniors, and First Year Masters Students in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or Electrical Engineering
• Available for employment starting in July and continuing through the Fall Semester
• Part-time, $20 per hour, ~10 hours per week, minimum of 40 hours per month
• You must be a U.S. Citizen, U.S. National or Protected Resident.

JOB DESCRIPTION:
FedCentric Technologies, LLC invites applications for a part-time Computer/Data Scientist to design, create, and manage, complex databases for virus analytics. Our team focuses on developing novel computational methods using the latest big-memory and big
data technologies to provide bioinformaticians with the tools they need to research viruses.


JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Development of in-memory database and real-time data analytic tools.
• Development of graph and bioinformatics algorithms for researching viruses
• Participate in method development, data analysis, statistical analysis, experimental and analytical design, and data management.
• Participate in collaborative research with other team members and communicate the analytical process and results in team meetings.
• Contribute ideas to automate or improve existing analytical methods and establish and document protocols and best practices for common tasks.


REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
• Experience with Python, Scala, C++, and Java
• Knowledge of the current commercial off the shelf databases
• Experience implementing data mining, and statistical algorithms for pattern recognition and the development of predictive models


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
• Experience with Relational, In-Memory and Graph Database design.
• Experience with virology, and/or bioscience
• Experience with version control tools such as Git and SVN
• Successful completion of
o Applied Probability and Statistics (STAT400)
o Algorithm Design & Analysis (CMSC451)
o Software Engineering (CMSC435)
