BMGT 289J Exploring Leadership - Fall 2020 Friday 8:30-9:45

Students that are looking for a class that plans to have in person classes should consider “Exploring Leadership.” The class invites students on a journey of professional exploration, and development—with the explicit goal of enabling students to embark on a path of personal leadership development. To achieve this goal, the course offers a set of experiences that are designed to enhance self-awareness and the capacity for effective leadership. Opportunities are provided through assessments, simulations, group exercises, discussion, case studies and readings to develop leadership skills and the capability to motivate, collaborate, negotiate, manage group conflict, and communicate effectively.

The class uses Harvard ManageMentor which is an award winning and nationally recognized on-line learning platform. Students will learn about the best practices in management and leadership through lessons, then develop and practice these skills through realistic simulations. Harvard ManageMentor has the highest quality content—regularly updated topics, videos, tools and on-the-job activities—that engage and motivate learners. Along with class credit, students will also receive a Harvard ManageMentor® completion certificate.

The assessments and simulations used in this course place students right in the mix of realistic business scenarios where application of the concepts and frameworks is critical in effective decision making.
Exploring Leadership is a business course (BMGT 289J) that fulfills the I-Series and Scholarship in Practice general education requirements.
