Medical Supply Drive seeks volunteers

Medical Supply Drive is a nationwide organization that was started to collect and donate unused personal protective equipment (PPE) to hospitals, clinics, and other organizations in need. As a team of volunteers, we work to supply clinicians with masks, gowns, and gloves to treat patients with COVID-19.

When the COVID-19 crisis began, six 3rd year Georgetown University School of Medicine students responded quickly to organize Medical Supply Drive, a 501(c)(3) organization. We have collected hundreds of thousands of units of PPE, as well as raised over $25,000 for buying and shipping supplies. Our volunteer base of 1,500 members is growing across the U.S., and we encourage you to volunteer with us to continue our effort! Many of our initial volunteers are medical students, who are now returning to the hospitals. However, as COVID-19 cases in Maryland, Virginia, and DC ramp up, we are hoping to further extend volunteer and leadership opportunities to undergraduate pre-health students.

Our work primarily consists of calling and emailing local businesses to collect PPE, then delivering these items to the hospitals in need. We are also fundraising and collecting donations so that we can buy our own PPE to supply to organizations in need. We have safety rules in place, use a no-contact protocol, and work directly with the hospitals to ensure our volunteers do not have to enter hospitals. This is a great opportunity to get involved and help out during this global pandemic. If you are interested in being a part of this effort, please fill out the Google form below:
