Be an RA Next Year – Application Deadline 4 PM, Oct. 5

The Qualifications for the RA position are as follows (*you can find more information about the RA Selection Process at www.reslife.umd.edu/RAposition).

  • Applicants must be an undergraduate student at UMD this fall to apply. Students who are away from the University for study abroad or other leaves-of-absences may be eligible depending upon circumstances.
  • If invited, applicants must register for and complete HESI 470 with a “C” or better in the Spring 2018 semester in order to be selected for a position.
  • Unless this is your first semester, you must have a 2.5 cumulative GPA or better at UMD to participate in the selection process. Applicants and RAs must maintain at least a 2.5 cumulative GPA throughout the entire selection process and during employment.
  • Applicants must be in good judicial and financial standing with the University.
  • If offered a position, newly hired Resident Assistants are expected to hold the position for the entire 2018-2019 academic year.
  • New Resident Assistants may not student teach during their first year in the position. Students who plan to student teach in the 2018-2019 academic year are not eligible to hold the RA position and therefore should not apply. Students who participate in educational field placements or teaching assistantships that are only a few hours a week are still eligible and encouraged to apply.
  • You may feel you have unique circumstances. If in doubt, please contact us to discuss your situation.
Students often need more information about the RA position and our Selection Process, so we’ve scheduled Information Sessions. Current RAs and professional staff members will be on hand to answer questions following each presentation.  Attendance at one of the Information Sessions is required of all applicants.

Here are the dates of our Information Sessions:
