Laughing Matters, the experimental news comedy program at UMD, will hold another writing session on Wednesday. Feb. 22, from 6 to 8 pm in the first-floor auditorium of Knight Hall. It's open to all students and faculty; no RSVP required. Teams will form to write skits for satirical shows; each team likely will have an opportunity to perform and record their skits later this semester.
Laughing Matters is a working group that encourages students to experiment with comedic broadcast news along the lines of John Oliver’s “Last Week Tonight” and SNL’s “Weekend Update.” Its focus is on satirical formats that illuminate the news by presenting fact-based information in entertaining ways.
