Paid On-campus Job Opportunity - Graphic Design



Title: Web Designer/Graphic Designer
Department: University of Maryland’s Division of Information Technology Security & Policy Office
Compensation: $_10_/hour, 8-10 hours/week, part-time undergraduate student position
Start Date: Spring Semester 2014

Duties:
The CyberEdu campaign is seeking a responsible student to assist in developing a cybersecurity educational tool for the student body (see attached project write-up).
The Web Designer/Graphic Designer will work in conjunction with several other team members on the CyberEdu campaign. Graphic and web design will be a large part of the responsibilities, but being a positive addition to the project team is equally important. This project is in the developmental phase and will require motivated, out of the box thinkers who are able to be self-starters in their work. The CyberEdu team will meet on a regular basis to discuss ideas and tasking, other duties can be done individually or in collaboration with others.
The graphic and web design piece will be attacked from several different angles. The first angle will be providing graphics for the physical website that will host the game and educational tool. Graphic arts work will also be necessary for developing content to be added to both the game and the educational tool. Video and photography experience is also important, as some tasks will require both skill sets. Design will also be needed for project materials and other marketing related efforts. The position may include other duties as assigned. The important thing is to have artistic abilities, and being able to transform concepts into a finished project.
The position reports to Bobby Crumbaugh, the Project Manager for CyberEdu as well as ACES and DIT faculty. 

Qualifications:
Previous graphic design work either through personal or professional endeavors. Possess/ create an art portfolio that represents solid base of artistic ability and creativity.
Written and oral communication skills and familiarity with social networking media are required. The candidate must be self-motivated, energetic, ethical with strong problem-solving skills, including the ability to prioritize. An interest in working independently as well as with CyberEdu teams is required.
