Arts & Humanities Dean's Lecture Series: Anthony Romero

Named one of Time magazine’s 25 Most Influential Hispanics in America, Anthony Romero is the Executive Director of the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU), the nation’s premier defender of civil and human rights. He is both the first Latino and openly gay man to serve in that capacity, and the first member of his family to graduate from high school. Under his leadership, the ACLU has challenged racial profiling, torture and abuse detainees in U.S. custody, private ownership of human genes and threats to basic freedoms during times of crisis.
