Entrepreneurship in the Arts: A Real-World Approach - Monday

Monday February 24, 2014 at 6:00 pm
Clarice Smith Performing Arts Center (CSPAC) Room 2220

In his second annual lecture at UMD, Jim Undercofler, former President and CEO of the Philadelphia Orchestra and current Artistic Director of the National Orchestral Institute, will discuss what skills and knowledge aspiring performing arts entrepreneurs need to be successful creators of new ventures.  Real-life examples will be used to highlight specific challenges emerging arts entrepreneurs face, including idea creation and seeking funds to support their ideas.
Ample time will be given for discussion.

Mr. Undercofler is a consultant to create a new master of arts degree in entrepreneurship in the arts, as well as undergraduate programs in leadership and advocacy, and is an adjunct faculty member in the RH Smith School of Business.
