Maryland English Institute Speaking Partner Program

My name is Caralyn W. Bushey and I am the Student Services Coordinator at The Maryland English Institute (MEI).  I would like to invite you to participate in the MEI Speaking Partners Program.

Volunteering as a speaking partner provides the opportunity to expand one's  world view, learn about other cultures, and make new friends. The partnership involves a UMD student meeting with an MEI student on campus for conversation. Most partners meet once a week for an hour of light conversation or to participate in an on-campus activity together.

If you would be interested in volunteering (and earning credit toward a service learning requirement) you are welcome to submit an application with the following information:

First name:

Last name:

Telephone Number:

Age:

Gender:

Preferred email address:

Are you: Student, Faculty, Staff, or Other?

Is English your native language? (If no, please explain):

What other languages (if any) do you speak?

Major/Vocation:

Other interests:

Preferred gender of partner (M/F/Either)

And please do not hesitate to let me know if I can answer any questions about MEI.

Sincerely,

Caralyn W. Bushey,  Student Services Coordinator
