Library of Congress Research Course

Each spring College Park Scholars hosts a guided research course – CPSP 359W 0101 (General Education DSSP).  Students are mentored by Robert Garber here on campus, with support provided by Darren Jones at the Library of Congress.  Students meet with Bob on campus on Tuesdays, from 11-12:15.  Bob provides van transportation to the Library on Friday mornings.  Students identify their own research question, then use the resources available at the Library of Congress to conduct their research.  They are issued LOC research cards so in addition to Fridays, they can use the Library at their convenience.  The course concludes with a poster presentation at the Academic Showcase, plus a paper.  The course is not for everyone, but for those who choose to participate, they find it a most rewarding learning experience.

This spring Honors students have been invited to participate.  If you are interested, please contact  Dr. David Eubanks at eubankd@umd.edu .
