Community Engagement Opportunity for the Fall 2019 Semester Tutoring K-12

The B.O.O.S.T (Building Our Own Success Trail) tutoring program is seeking UMD
students to provide homework help for elementary and middle school level children in
various subjects.

B.O.O.S.T connects local youth with UMD students, who then provide homework
assistance and academic enrichment activities in the areas of STEAM (science,
technology, engineering, arts, and math). Every participating youth student receives two
hours of academic support and enrichment twice a week from the tutors. During each
session, students learn study, organizational skills, and leadership skills that equip and
empower them for success inside and outside of the classroom.

The program takes place on Mondays and Thursdays from 6:30-8:30pm at the Embry
AME Church (5101 Lakeland Road, College Park, MD 20740), a five-minute walk from
the University Club Apartments UM-Shuttle stop. Tutors are asked to commit to one day
per week for the entire semester. Dinner and refreshments are provided.

The program begins Monday, September 30th . If interested, please email
oce@umd.edu or call OCE at 301.405.1113 for more information.
