NEEDED: Bilingual Students to lead UMD tours for PGCPS Students

The Prince George's County Department of International Programs is looking to recruit 10 – 12 bilingual UMD students to volunteer to facilitate tours of campus during an upcoming event called Estudios Universitarios: A College Education is Within Your Reach. This event will be taking place on Saturday, December 13th this year.

This is an annual event for Prince George's County students and their families to get them prepared for college.  Campus tours are usually involved, and have been extremely successful for the past two years, being led by bilingual UMD students!

Since the majority of families attending this event are Spanish-speakers, our office would like to continue to offer tours led by bilingual tour guides to make the experience more personable.  I am asking for your assistance in recruiting individuals to volunteer to be a tour guide. Below are some bulleted points regarding what will be expected of volunteers.

·   Bilingual individuals knowledgeable about campus--locations will be pre-identified and within close proximity of Stamp Student Union (we will be offering a brief training online)
·  Able to meet at Stamp Student Union from 11:15am – 1pm on Saturday, December 13th
·  Willingness to lead consecutive groups of parents and students (10 – 15 individuals) around campus for 45 minute intervals
Those interested in volunteering or anyone who has questions should contact Jennifer Love (jennifer.love@pgcps.org or 301-408-5511). We would like to have all volunteers signed up by Friday, December 5th and prepared to complete the brief online training before the event. A background check is not required in order to volunteer.
All volunteers will receive a free Estudios t-shirt!
